1973/1975 - Photographer, Appalachia Learning Lab, Alice Lloyd College, Pippa Passes, Kentucky
During a sabbatical from the University of Louisville, I collected historical photographs from the region and established the Appalachian Photographic Archives. In addition, I made photographs for a book, Our Appalachia: An Oral History, 1890-1960, edited by Laurel Shackelford and Bill Weinberg. It was published by Hill & Wang in 1977 and reprinted by the University of Kentucky Press in 1985.

I was appointed the first curator of the archives in September, 1967. The holdings includes local and regional images, a fine print collection, and the Roy Stryker Collection that has Farm Security Administration photographs, images from the Standard Oil of New Jersey, and Jones and Laughlin Steel plus personal papers and correspondence.
